Hi Matt,Welcome to the threads,I presume that this is for PhotoPlus?Duplicate your original image, so that any changes are on a new layer. You have to select the area you want to blur first. You can do this a few ways dependant on inspection of what you want to select! If it's all one colour or very close colours it may be possible to use the magic wand.On the other hand if it's quite a contrasting background you would have to use the Selection brush and painstakingly draw/select over either the stuff you want to keep in focus (ie Bird) or if its easier select/draw over the stuff you want to blur. in the example I use I have selected the bird and it's perch only, then when happy that I have done a reasonable job of this I then went to the Select menu of the toolbar and clicked on Invert This then selected everything but the bird and perch (the stuff I wanted to blur. Then go to Effects from the toolbar menu and click on Blur and Blur More a few times till you are happy with the amount that the selection area has changed(blurred)I am not really all that clued up on PhotoPlus and others may comment further-but this works for meSeanI see that Caz is on the case whilst I have been doing this effort :>)Originally posted ages ago. I really should learn to use PhotoPlus. The photo work I do in drawplus never have the same quality. (Matt did explain it to me once). Am I right in saying that the photo capabilities of DrawPlus X4 have been improved.Straight away the thing that puts me off PhotoPlus is that it does not have the "worktop" area around the image you are working on in the same way DrawPlus has. I know it is stupid but you get used to things.Ouch!!! my head is thumping after converting a load of old Hi8 videos to my computer. It's been fun seeing the kids young and cute again.ages ago(permalink)
sativus - Well, they were only leaves at the time ;) it's about the only plant I can identify! Well, that and the other poisonous ones to horses. My plant biology professor used to despair! The photo was taken the day after I'd brought Thor home. So cute :)Hilary - I really enjoy seeing what others make from my images. No need to apologise!I'll try and post some of the fixes I've achieved with blend modes. They make things so easy, and even better for a lazy person like me! I'd love to see the images you created.Dkb- I've never managed to get good results with the dof effect. Partly due to lack of patience for the rendering time! It is good for some things tho. Photoplus x4 is so much nicer than x3. A real improvement. Drawplus is still the weapon of choice for a lot of creative stuff though... andi - funny enough, I prefer the pageplus workshop as it means you can easily move objects between pages. Keep forgetting that drawplus doesn't... I just treat photoplud as a different beast.Well I've nearly worn a hole in my new phone typing this! Hopefully I've caught all of the random word substitutions!Caz xages ago(permalink) 2ff7e9595c
